Sarah Theisen MS
Professional Counselor Associate
We all likely experience both tranquility and turmoil throughout our lives at different times. As we grow and learn through these experiences, reaching out for help is a powerful thing that can help you regain control of your life at a time when you might feel lost.
My initial focus in therapy will be getting to know you where you are. I spend time getting to know you and building our therapeutic relationship which will allow me to provide you with the best treatment and walk beside you as you get to a place in life where you feel better. I work from a trauma focused and person-centered approach. I use Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), TF-ACT, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among other modalities in therapy with my clients. Each client is unique, and I will use my knowledge to find what fits them best and use that to determine the best treatment.
I believe anxiety, depression and trauma can lead to a variety of different symptoms and impacts many different people in our world today. I believe educating and providing therapy to individuals impacted by mental health issues will lead to a healthier, happier you and equally a better world. I strive to uncover what is underneath your symptoms, what is the root cause rather than just treat what is on the surface.
I was born and raised in the Midwest and spent most of my life there. I moved to the PNW about two years ago chasing the mountains, ocean and the beautiful nature that surrounds us out here. I believe strongly that our mind, body and mental health are all connected and need to be worked on in some way together for optimal health and functioning.
I offer counseling to individuals ages 15 and up. I work with individuals with a variety of presenting issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions and overall difficulties in finding meaning and purpose in daily life.
It takes a lot of courage to take the first step in your mental health wellness journey, I am glad you are here. If you are interested in a consultation, please reach out and we can both see if it would be a good fit and begin this journey together.
